Salesman left RM25,000 poorer by two-timing girlfriend
BUKIT MERTAJAM: A salesman is RM25,000 poorer after he gave a supplementary credit card to a woman who promised to marry him.
The woman, who goes by
the name of Daisy, used the card for holidays and shopping trips but started to
avoid him when the money ran out.
The salesman, who
wanted to be known as Charles, said he was going public as he did not want
other men to be cheated.
He was speaking at a
press conference held at Penang MCA Public Complaints Bureau chief and Padang
Lalang Implementation and Coordination Unit (ICU) officer Tan Teik Cheng's
service centre here yesterday.
Also present was state MCA secretary and Berapit ICU officer Lau Chiek Tuan.
Charles said he
befriended the woman in October last year and had wanted to marry her.
“I obtained a supplementary card for her and she spent RM5,000 in November and December.
“I settled the bill but then she spent about RM20,000 in January and February,” he added.
He said Daisy bought branded items like Gucci and Bonia bags, perfume, air tickets and booked hotel rooms in Langkawi, Penang and Kuala Terengganu using the credit card.
“I became suspicious when she kept telling me she was busy with her business, but I found out that she has many boyfriends.
“I also saw a photograph of her taken in Kuala Terengganu where a man was hugging her,” he said.
Charles said when he cancelled the credit card in March, he lost contact with Daisy.
